A 5 day adventure in the pristine wilderness of Botswana

Come experience the sheer beauty of the world's largest inland delta. The Okavango Delta was formed where the water of the Okavango River sinks into the thirsty sand of The Kalahari Desert. Most of the water is lost to evaporation and transpiration instead of into the sea. The Okavango is the largest natural oasis in Africa and home to a large variety of animals. Incredible game viewing is offered all year round with beautifully landscaped backdrops from floodplains and shallow lagoons to dense forest and the open savannah.

Experience the thrill of an explorer in a Mobile Safari Camp

You will have no internet connectivity for the duration your safari, allowing you to enjoy nature and wildlife at its best. A Slow But Sure Mobile Safari allows you to experience the splendor of Botswana. Going on a private safari is not just an expedition in one of the most beautiful nature areas in the world, but it makes you feel as if time has stood still for quite a while.

On arrival at the Maun airport, you will be met by a Slow But Sure representative who will facilitate your transfer to your first overnight location. Your Slow But Sure guide will be waiting to transfer you in a comfortable purpose built Land Rover Defender. He, our chef and camp staff will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at home. Alternatively one can fly into Moremi or Khwai to the airstrip nearest to where your camp is set up.

The camp is exclusively set up for your party in an unfenced private location in the reserve only accessible to members of the Botswana Guides Association. We use spacious 3x3 meter dome tents which easily accommodate two comfortable camping beds with fresh bedding. Each tent has an en-suite private bush bathroom that includes a bucket shower.

To make you feel at home in the bush, your camp staff fill your shower in the morning and evening or on request during the day.
The water is heated on the fire to ensure the perfect shower temperature. The camp is set up with a central area offering a dinner/lounge tent with a small bar and where coffee and tea are always available. Meals are served here or in the adjacent fire area. There is a bush kitchen where meals are prepared by your expert chef.

Day 1: On arrival in Maun, you will be transferred to camp or to flight to the bush airstrip closest to camp. This flight will give you a beautiful aerial view of the wilderness where you could possibly already spot herds of elephant and antelope below. Upon landing, your guide will take you on a game drive making your way to the camp, which is exclusive to your party.

As the camp is unfenced you will receive a briefing on the do’s and don’ts in the bush and you will have some time to familiarise yourself with the environment. Take your time to settle in and relax before going out on the open 4x4 game viewer with your guide and enjoy a sundowner in the wilderness. Dinner is served under the stars next to the fire, after which everyone tucks in for the night.

Day 2: Start the day with an early morning wakeup call. Tea and coffee are waiting for you before embarking on a game drive to capture the beauty of the morning light and the start of a new day in this untouched wilderness. On return from the game drive your chef will have a hearty brunch ready for you.

You will then have time to take a shower and enjoy some leisure time in the camp while familiarizing yourself with the peace and tranquility of the bush. After a high tea, hop on the game viewer for an afternoon game drive. Your first full day in the African Wilderness is ended off with a wonderful bush dinner around a crackling fire under the stars before retiring to the comfort of your accommodation.

Day 3: Start the day off with a breakfast in camp, en-route to the boat station (optional). Posibilities for a mokoro trip or motor boating.

From here you will be able to enjoy the unique experience of being poled through the reeds in a mokoro excursion to enjoy safari in a different way. While cruising along the narrow papyrus-lined channels you will get a chance to appreciate the exquisite birdlife and wildlife of the area as well as the stunning landscape. After a picknick lunch and some lingering in the shade you will return to your private camp to enjoy a cold beverage of your choice by the fire in the late afternoon. Alternatively and depending on the location of the camp one can choose for a motor boat.

Day 4: Today your guide will be taking you through different areas of the reserve during your game drive while trying to locate any animals you might not have seen yet on safari.

There will ample time to try and meet any special requests that have been made and to laze about during the hot hours of the day. Enjoy a scrumptious lunch and dinner prepared by the chef on your final full day in the wilderness and then be amazed by the stargazing done at night if the skies allow for it.

Day 5: After a slow start to the day and an excellent breakfast, it's time to say farewell to the camp crew, as the guide will be driving you to the airstrip where your plane will be waiting for your next destination.

Catering:
Your expedition is fully catered, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, coffee, tea, fruit juice and water.
Alcoholic beverages will be stocked on request and billed separately.
Alternatively, the camp can be booked on a self-catering basis.
